The I2T2 is the Government agency in charge of the design and implementation of the Science, Technology and Innovation Program in Nuevo Leon, responsible of the administration of the Research and Innovation Technologic Park (PIIT).

In the last 10 years, the indissoluble alliance of Academia-Government-Industry through the triple helix model has managed to make Nuevo Leon a leader state in science, technology and innovation.

The State’s Innovation Ecosystem contains legal, budgetary, strategic and institutional frameworks that ensure its long-term development and implementation, supporting 13 strategic clusters and focusing on building up and strengthen the 4 key capacities defined by the model.

We have identified strategic areas of knowledge decided upon collaboratively with universities, enterprises and the State Government, from which 13 clusters where created in order to center their actions on the promotion of the following areas.

Nuevo Leon 4.0

Recently, the Ministry of Economic Development and Labor, has launched a joint public-private initiative denominated Nuevo León 4.0, aimed at the development of manufacturing and intelligent products that, using automation, information technologies and the internet of things will position us to international level. The innovation ecosystem already in place will build on this initiative to ensure its success and to turn Nuevo León into the Innovation Capital of the country.

In order to transit to the fourth industrial revolution, Nuevo León 4.0 has deployed eight “Transformation Mechanisms”:

Center For Protection Of Intellectual Property

Established in collaboration with the Mexican Institute of Intellectual Property (IMPI, by its name in Spanish)

Objectives:

Foster the culture of trademarks and inventions protection.

Provide advice on industrial property.

Facilitate the link between inventors and productive sectors.

Support with registration of inventions and other related procedures.

The Joint Fund and the Innovation Stimulus Program support the best projects in Nuevo Leon and have dedicated, to date, more than USD $300 million in prominent projects.

Outreach

During the period of the Nuevo Leon’s administration 2015-2021, a lot of activities were carried out to promote scientific vocations and boost interest in science and technology among the students and general population. These projects, that were organized by I2T2 in coordination with CONACYT, Secretary of Education, UANL, Tec de Monterrey and Horno3 reached more than 835,000 persons.
